On Tuesday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that they have panned a $3 billion investment in India to develop the artificial intelligence (AI) capability of the country and expand its Azure cloud-computing services business. Nadella also underlined that the company currently has a lot of regional expansion in the country. Another thing the CEO stated included that the company would train 10 million people in AI skills in India by 2030.
This step of investment in India comes from the Microsoft CEO, the day after he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where they discussed many topics, including technology and artificial intelligence.
After the meeting concluded, Nadella expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi by posting a social media post. He wrote in the post that he is very excited to build upon the commitment to make India AI-first and work together on the continued expansion in the country to ensure every Indian benefit from this AI platform shift.
PM Modi replied to Nadella’s post by saying that it was surely a very nice meeting and he is very happy to hear about Microsoft’s very ambitious expansion and investment plans in India. It was also great to discuss various things around tech, innovation, and AI during the meeting.
