A series of agreements between India and New Zealand were witnessed by PM Modi and New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon in Delhi. In a joint press statement with New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon, PM Modi said: “I would like to welcome PM Luxon and his Cabinet to India… PM Luxon is a person who has connected with India. Of late, we have seen how he recently celebrated Holi… It is a matter of great pleasure that such a young leader is our chief guest in the Raisina Dialogue 2025…”
Meanwhile, many important agreements were signed between India and New Zealand in New Delhi on Monday. The Prime Ministers of both nations were present at this event. After signing these agreements, a joint statement said that the two nations had decided to strengthen and institutionalize their defense partnership. A blueprint for mutual defense-industrial cooperation between India and New Zealand will be established. They have also decided to initiate negotiations on a mutually beneficial India-New Zealand FTA.
Prime Minister Modi said, “…work will be done towards a mutual understanding of the issue of illegal migration with India and New Zealand.” The joint statement emphasizes that, whether it be the 2019 Christchurch attack or the 2008 Mumbai attack, terrorism in all its forms cannot be tolerated. Both suggest that they would be in cooperation to fight terrorism, separatism, and radicalization.
