Tommorow, i.e. Tuesday, the day can prove itself an important turning point in putting an end to the incessant war between Russia and Ukraine. In fact, the event of tomorrow will see key conversations between US President Donald Trump and President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It promises to bring some data to the table concerning ending the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine appointed the new Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Hnatov, during these changes when Ukraine is shaping itself and preparing to have its defense strong enough to withstand the blows of Russia’s Kursk region and mounting pressure in Donetsk.
The US leader talked about it to reporters on Sunday evening while flying from Florida to Washington via his beloved ‘Air Force One’. Trump said, ‘We will see if we have anything to announce by Tuesday. I will talk to President Putin on Tuesday.’ He said that a lot of work has been done last week. We want to see if we can end this war. He mentioned that this war started some three years back when Russia attacked Ukraine. It is not only land but also power plants that are part of the talks to end the war. He said, ‘We will talk about land. We will talk about power plants.’. Trump further described it as assets’ division.
Importance of Trump-Putin conversation
The significance of the Trump-Putin talks can be articulated in case it is not bathed in being dead, as Russia and Ukraine carried out massive air-to-ground attacks in one another’s territory on Saturday night. Both countries recorded detections of more than 100 enemy drones. Under this backdrop, within 24 hours before the attack, a call came from Russian President Vladimir Putin, talking to US Ambassador Steve Witkoff, to discuss the US side’s proposal on a 30-day ceasefire in the war with Ukraine. Earlier, at a press conference on Thursday, Putin said that he is, in principle, in favor of a ceasefire but raised some questions for clarification before reaching an agreement.
Zelensky has already offered his endorsement of the ceasefire proposal
Moscow has recently belittled its ceasefire proposal, said the Ukrainians publicly. After an online consult with Western allies hosted by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President Volodymyr Zelensky encouraged the proposal for a full 30-day ceasefire with hopes of developing long-term peace plans. Earlier on Saturday, Zelensky made allegations against Russia that troops were moving forward.
