Actor John Abraham does not like to attend the trailer launches as well as public events surrounding the film that he is acting in. For this one, The Diplomat, he personally meets journalists and has been telling them about the peculiarities of this movie along with director Shivam Nair. He also discussed the accident of the Vedaa trailer launch last year and admitted on camera for the first time that he was to blame.

The shooting of the film about J P Singh, an Indian Foreign Service officer posted in Pakistan, named The Diplomat, was completed last year. “But Shivam Nair, director of the film, is such a perfectionist that he wants to edit every scene so that there remains no blemish on it. So, after shooting the film, he will cut it in the edit room with such precision that seeing this passion in him is really enjoyable to work with. This is the first time I worked with Shivam for this film.”

Shivam Nair has been considered among a few capable directors of Hindi cinema who never promoted their work. The audience first experienced his work worldwide in the spy series “Special Ops,” which finds its place among India’s top five Hindi web series. This series has been directed by Shivam, who shot all its episodes in India: John says, “When the story of the film came to me and when I met the director of the film Shivam Nair, I was very impressed to see his preparation. After this, I read its entire script several times with Shivam and also understood the nuances of this character with acting coach Saurabh Sachdeva before the shooting started.”

Learning from mistakes is essentially a sign of maturity

Answering, “Yes. I don’t get angry that much now. I still speak my mind, but now I’ve learned to mold my comments more diplomatically. Earlier, I would just say whatever came to my mind. But I feel, learning from mistakes is the sign of a person becoming mature,” to the question regarding John’s change of feelings towards anger now that he is above fifty, he mused that maybe some anger is reduced when people hit fifty.

I apologize for that!

And he made that offense last year, too, when he used foul language against a journalist’s question at the trailer release of ‘Veda’? John was perhaps taken aback by this question. And understanding the gravity, he actually accepted that yes, he has made a mistake. John says, “I shouldn’t have reacted that way. That ‘poor bloke’ was just doing his job. I realized my mistake and I apologize for it. Usually, I steer clear of such functions. At one point, I said don’t invite me. Lo and behold, I shot myself in the foot.” The release of ‘The Diplomat’ is scheduled for March 14.
