European Union President Ursula von der Leyen said a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) could be signed between India and the European Union this year. She said, “The world is surrounded by crises these days, but I believe that in the modern competition of superpowers, there is an opportunity for India and the European Union to reshape their partnership. In many cases, India and the European Union are facing specific challenges.
Practical and ambitious approach
It is high time for India and the European Union to take their partnership to the next level, said Ursula von der. She said that ‘this is not the time when we should limit our cooperation or get stuck on a particular issue. This is the time to be practical and ambitious and to re-define our priorities based on today’s reality.’ The President of the European Union stated that India and the European Union can take their cooperation to completely new heights through trade, technology, security, and connectivity. The President of the European Union has also expressed happiness about the corridor connecting India, West Asia, and Europe, saying it is a historic opportunity to increase cooperation between India and Europe.
