China’s continuous progression of military power does not seem to stop. This included announcing yet another increase in the defense budget of China. China revealed its defense budget on Wednesday, with $249 billion being allocated for defense spending. This is being put at 7.2 percent higher than last year’s budget.
China’s defence budget was increased last year as well
China’s defense budget for this year has been fixed at 1.7 trillion yuan, or 249 billion dollars, in the draft budget given to Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang. Last year, too, the increase in China’s defense budget was 7.2 percent. China’s defense budget for last year was around 1.67 trillion yuan or 232 billion dollars. China has been modernizing its army massively. New aircraft carriers and rapidly built naval ships, as well as fighter planes based on stealth technology, are being launched. They are going to prepare to challenge America on every front and under this they are also busy strengthening their army. So far the budget is very less as compared to America’s, but judging by the pace with which China is building up its military expenditures, it too is expected to come close to America soon. Apart from this, there is also a tense situation with China in the South China Sea and Vietnam. There is a boundary dispute between China and India as well.
China Defense budget is more than three times that of India
It is thereby worth mentioning that this increase in China’s military budget has made it more than three times that of India. Recent budgets saw India allocate $75 billion for military expenditure. The expenditure by China stands tall at $249 billion. Clearly, a difference has emerged between the two countries. Talking of other countries, America is at the forefront in this matter, with 895 billion dollars’ worth of military budget. No country even comes close to America in this matter. China comes at number two, and Russia is in third place with 126 billion dollars spent on its army. In terms of military budget, India is at fourth place, Saudi Arabia at fifth place, Britain at sixth, Japan at seventh, Australia at eighth, France at ninth, and Ukraine at 10th place. This ranking has been given concerning the Global Firepower Ranking 2025.
Chinese government to provide more employment
The one in the budget of China is China working to create 12 million new jobs, most of which will be metropolitan jobs. The Chinese economy is currently troubled due to tensions with America over tariffs and other issues. This is why the Chinese government emphasizes creating employment to boost the economy.
