On Monday, world-renowned TikTok asked the US Supreme Court to intervene and put a stay order on the ban of the app in the USA. The parent company ByteDance came along with TikTok to prevent the ban that is scheduled on Jan 19, 2025. The lower court has given the order to ban the company on the deadline Jan 19 or the China-based parent company has to sell the company.
On Wednesday, the US Supreme Court agreed to hear the arguments on Jan 10, 2025. Both the companies, TikTok & ByteDance, want to overthrow the US law that was passed in April,24 that forces the app to ban or sell the company. There are more than 170 million TikTok users in the US, and some of them have filed a similar plea to remove the ban on the app. Some content creator’s livelihoods also depend on this app.
