The Mumbai Cyber Cell has issued a show-cause notice to the ticketing agency regarding an event in Maharashtra with rapper Honey Singh. It is claimed that tickets for the concert were sold without names written on them.
Why did the cyber cell adopt such a strict attitude?
The Mumbai Cyber Cell had given prior warnings to ticketing agencies about circulation in black for tickets. Recently, for an upcoming concert of Honey Singh, the Zomato ticketing platform was charged again with selling tickets without naming the buyer, which should have been as asked in the show-cause notice issued by Yashasvi Jaiswal, chief of the Mumbai Cyber Cell.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened
During an India tour from the band Coldplay, there was an instance of black marketing for concert tickets. With no names written on them, people could buy tickets in bulk and sell them for a higher price. The Mumbai Cyber Cell clamped down on the matter. They also instructed the ticketing platforms, BookMyShow and Zomato, to sell tickets by printing the names of buyers on them for major events.
Maharashtra cyber cell will issue white paper
The Cyber Cell is to soon bring out a white paper on the ticketing issue, a document put together with input from all platforms in the ticketing line. This paper will be in legal form, spelling out certain changes proposed for the ticketing system.
