South superstar Vijay has a smattering of headlines to attract; as of late, he had the grand Iftar party hosted at the YMCA grounds in Royapettah, Chennai, which got big cheers from his fans. However, the event is fast enthralling itself with controversies as the actor has been filed under a formal complaint by the Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamaat.
Serious allegations against Vijay
According to media reports, Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamaat treasurer Syed Kaus alleges that the gathering has desecrated Muslim sentiments. The event was poorly organized, and the singer felt there was no decorum of the Iftar spirit.
Security personnel also came under attack
According to Syed Kaus, unconnected people to the religious significance of Roza or Iftar were present, making the event insulting to the community. He also criticized the security arrangements of the occasion, alleging that Vijay’s foreign security behaved with disrespect and in a cow-like manner towards the guests.
Allegations of insulting Muslims
He is alleged to have uttered words to the effect that “the Iftar hosted by Vijay insulted the Muslims. We believe that the presence of completely drunk people and miscreants who had nothing to do with fasting or Iftar has insulted Muslims.” The treasurer urged that the law be set in motion against the actor-politician and stated that the intention of filing a complaint was not for publicity but for the future prospect of averting such acts.
Vijay offered Namaz
Meanwhile, the actor has not made an official statement yet. He hosted an Iftaar party in March during the holy month of Ramadan, on the 8th day to be precise. During the observance of breaking fast by good-hearted men in the evening, wearing a cap, he was seen offering Namaz with pictures and videos of him going viral. The head and founder of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVik), Vijay, was spotted in white attire with a cap on sharing Iftaar with his Muslim brothers.
