As the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect, it brought about happiness among the people. On Sunday, while Hamas released three Israeli hostages, Israel managed to return 90 Palestinians. Palestinian prisoners were released from Ofer Jail in Ramallah, Israel. Some of them included activists of the main Palestinian organization women and children.
As the Palestinians were released from jail, a crowd of other Palestinian sympathizers gathered outside the prison to welcome back the releases. Firecrackers were busted as they drove out from the jail for their release about 50 in number in white buses. The reasons for detention were all security-related crimes including stone-throwing and attempted murder. However, the released Palestinian prisoners criticized Israel for delaying the release. The prisoners, however, stated Israel was deliberately trying to lessen their phenomenal celebration. But before this took place, the Israeli army issued warnings that no celebrations would be tolerated.
The Palestinians released by Israel include many Palestinian figures. This includes 62-year-old Khalida Jarrara, head of the prominent Palestinian leftist group Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine [PFLP]. She was detained in December 2023. In addition, Dalal Khosib, sister of Hamas official Saleh Arora, and Abla Abdel Rasool, wife of leader Ahmed Seadat, are mentioned. In addition, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagri, spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces, said that three women who were taken captive by Hamas had been freed after 471 days, and their families and fellow citizens congratulated them.
