Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple, Ayodhya, has passed away today at SGPGI Lucknow. This has been confirmed by the hospital. He had been admitted to SGPGI on 3rd February and was put in the neurology ward HDU as he had suffered a stroke.
According to PGI Director Dr RK Dhiman, treatment was ongoing under the doctors’ regular supervision. Apart from brain stroke, Satyendra Das had several other diseases. Despite all efforts, he could not be saved. He had been hospitalized when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited him a few days back to inquire about his condition.
Ramnagari engulfed in mourning
Ram Mandir Trust paid tribute to the late Satyendra Das. The Ramnagari monastery temples also house the grieving. Recently, he was hospitalized at PGI due to his deteriorating health and was receiving treatment at Lucknow PGI. However, now, Ram Mandir Trust confirmed Acharya Satyendra Das’s demise.
Today on the holy day of Magh Purnima, Wednesday, around 7 a.m., the chief priest of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple breathed his last at PGI, Lucknow. He had worshipped Shri Ram Lalla since 1993. Gen. Sec’y. of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra, Champat Rai, and various people associated with temple managing have expressed grief and condolence on his demise.
They express their regret over his passing away–Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of Ram Mandir Bhawan Nirman Samiti, Trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra; Vimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, scion of the royal family of Ayodhya; Dr. Anil Mishra; and Gopal ji. They thus pay their humble tribute to him.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also extended his grief concerning the passing away of Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Temple Ayodhya. CM Yogi wrote: “The demise of Acharya Satyendra Kumar Das Maharaj, the chief priest of the highest Ram devotee, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Ayodhya Dham—is extremely sorrowful and an irreparable loss to the social and spiritual world. A humble tribute to him! I pray to Lord Shri Ram to provide a resting space for the departed soul at His lotus feet and to give the strength to bear this immense sorrow upon His grieving disciples and followers. Om Shanti!”
