According to Russian media reports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Russia again in May. He is supposed to be a guest of honor at the 80th Great Patriotic War Parade on Red Square in Moscow. An Indian Army contingent may also participate in this parade. As per the report, the Indian Army contingent may proceed towards Russia a month in advance so that it can rehearse for the parade.
Many countries heads of state may also go to Russia
Many other heads of state would also attend as guests for the Great Patriotic War Parade besides the Prime Minister. According to Foreign Minister Lavrov of Russia, many countries invited for the May 9 parade have already confirmed participation. Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for Russia’s President, stated that the other heads of various countries have been invited to attend the parade. Notably, the war between Russia and Nazi Germany during World War II was given the name Great Patriotic War. The dates of this war stretch from June 22, 1941, to May 9, 1945. The war is regarded as one of the largest and bloodiest wars ever fought in human history. The outcome was the defeat of Germany. After this war, Russia became in a position to hold the title, “world’s biggest military power,” whereas the allies of Germany Romania, and Hungary surrendered in that war.
PM Modi had gone to Russia in October last year
Significantly, PM Modi had gone to Russia in October last year. His visit was for the sixteenth BRICS summit held under their chairmanship on Kazan, Russia. If PM Modi went to Russia in May, he would again be at a time when Russia and Ukraine are discussing a ceasefire. This first phase of the negotiations between the two countries took place this month in the Saudi Arabian city of Riyadh. PM Modi had already appealed for peace between Russia and Ukraine.
