Maharashtra Cyber Cell has again issued a summon in the case regarding the offensive remarks made by Ranveer Allahabadia in ‘India’s Got Latent’. The summon has been delivered to Samay Raina, the show’s maker, host, and comedian. He was asked to appear before the investigating officers on February 17. Now, what options does Samay have on this matter going forward?
Lawyer informed Samay’s return on March 17
Earlier on Wednesday, the cyber cell had been informed by Samay Raina’s lawyer that the comedian was in America and would return to the country on March 17. Recently, he announced via social media that he had deleted all his videos.
Will Samay cancel the tour?
Samay is busy with his US and Canada tours these days. The tour started in Dallas on February 6 and was supposed to end in Chicago on March 2. But now since Samay has been summoned, he will have no choice but to cancel the tour and return to the country.
What are the consequences if Samay does not return?
If Samay Raina is unable to return to India by the cancellation of his tour, usual summons, or by any relief by the court on appeal to him, certainly processes of issuing a warrant for arrest could be set in motion against him.
Five judges summoned by Assam Police
Meanwhile, the Assam Police summons have been sent to YouTube stars Ranveer Allahabadia and Ashish Chanchlani. Additionally issuing the summons in the same episode of the show were Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and Samay Raina. Apoorva was also questioned by the Mumbai Police in this context.
