A roadways bus was involved in a major road accident in Bhimtal of Nainital district of Uttarakhand. On Wednesday afternoon, a bus traveling between Pithoragarh and Haldwani fell off the parapet into a gorge of 1,500 feet deep while attempting to avoid a clash with a car.
After the accident, all 27 passengers, including the driver & conductor were pulled from the gorge using ropes and other available resources, with the help of police, fire department team, and local people. Then, they found out that four people had already died & 23 were injured. Out of the injured, there were 21 people whose condition was critical. Initially, they were taken to the community health center in Bhimtal. But as their condition became more critical, they were taken to Haldwani in the ambulances for better treatment.
CM of Uttarakhand Reacts to Accident
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed his anguish over the occurrence. He assured that the local administration is working tirelessly to carry out the rescue operations. He has declared that he will give the family members of the deceased ten lakh each, three lakh rupees for each of the seriously injured traveling passengers, and fifteen thousand to twenty-five thousand rupees for the minor injured. The Chief Minister applauded the contributions of the local people in conducting the rescue operations.
