Mark Carney is announced as Canada’s prospective leader and Prime Minister by the ruling Liberal Party of Canada. As he was elected PM, Carney initiated a tongue-lashing against the US and its President Trump. Formerly the governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, Mark Carney obtained the Liberal leadership with over 85 percent of the vote.
Canada will never be a part of US
After being nominated as Canada’s next PM, Mark Carney soon stated his relationship with the US. Carney replied to Trump’s statement about making Canada the 51st state of America: America is not Canada. In no way, shape, or form will Canada ever be a part of America. Mark Carney stated that America wants to capture the resources, water, land, and country of the people of Canada. If they do, they will destroy our way of life.
Criticism of America’s healthcare system
Mark Carney also criticized the healthcare system of America during this. He claimed it to be a ‘business’- no less- and called the healthcare of Canada a ‘right.’ About the tariff imposed by President Trump, he mentioned that Canada would retaliate till America promises fair and free trade. Carney said: ‘There is someone who is trying to weaken our economy.’ He continued: ‘As we know, Donald Trump has imposed unfair tariffs on the products we make, the goods we sell, and our means of livelihood. He is attacking Canadian families, workers, and businesses, but we cannot let him succeed.’
Carney had added that Canada would keep imposing retaliatory tariffs until ‘US continued doing so.’ “We didn’t start this fight, but when someone troubles us, Canadians do not let that person go,” he said. Now, he is expected to hold elections in the country shortly. Either the elections will be announced, or opposition parties in the Parliament will force the government to conduct elections by bringing in a no-confidence motion at the end of this month.
Mark Carney also condemned the opposition Conservative leader
Apart from this, he also blamed the opposition Conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre, for worshiping the market while never having the experience of paying salaries to employees. Mark Carney emphasized the strength of Canada and said, ‘Our strength is in our people, and we will overcome this crisis and become even stronger.’ He concluded his speech by saying – Long live Canada.
