An executive order from US President Donald Trump has been in the wake of another sensation. Declaring English as the official language of America has now become Trump’s order. It would unite a country filled with immigrants from all corners of the Earth, according to him. An X post from the White House features Trump’s executive order, stating that the time to declare the English language as the official language of the land is already due.
“Though running as per the foundations of a national language, such a definition nurtures unity and harmony,” said the White House statement. “The United States thrives as the bond between two coexisting entities conversing in this tongue.”
As the Executive Order states, agencies are given the ability to provide services in any other language besides English. This Executive Order does not obligate any agency to change any service. Agency heads determine what is necessary to fulfill the mission of the agency and to provide government service efficiently to the American people.
White House communications explained that the United States is home to more than 350 languages. English has been the language of the government of the United States since the founding of our republic. These great documents of culpability-the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, were penned in the English language.
60 million speak other languages
According to a study conducted by the United States government in 2019, at least 68 million in the country speak a language other than English at home. Over 40 million people speak Spanish. Whereas, the majority of individuals converse in English; therefore, the power of English is felt most in this context.
