The Maharashtra government has also started preparing to take action on love jihad and forced conversion. For this purpose, the government has formed a seven-member committee to recommend legal measures against love jihad and forced conversion. The Chairman of this committee has been appointed as the DGP of Maharashtra. Worthy to note is that in many other states as well, state governments have made their own attempts to stop love jihad and forced conversion and now Maharashtra is about to join the list.
People Included In The Committee
The committee formed by the state of Maharashtra involves the DGP of Maharashtra, secretaries of the Women and Child Welfare Department, Minority Department; Law and Judiciary Department, Social Justice Department, and Special Assistance Department along with the Deputy Secretary of the Home Department. The state government issued orders on Friday in this regard. The order says the committee will study and forecast what measures can be adopted to deal with the incidents of love jihad and forced conversion. The committee will also study the laws in this regard in other states. Then the committee will make its recommendations for provisions against them and will also advise in their legal regard. The term love jihad is usually applied by right-wing activists and organizations. The charge leveled is that there is a conspiracy on the part of Muslim males to entrap Hindu females into marriage and convert them to Islam.
NCP SP MP & Amit Shah meeting
Sharad Pawar’s party NCP SP MP Suresh Mahatre met on Thursday with Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister. The NCP SP MP complained to him that drug smugglers and criminals must be dealt with in the Thane Bhiwandi region. The MP said criminality in Bhiwandi has now grown to alarming proportions, where crime and drug smuggling are rampant. The MP allegedly said that the criminals get bail after arrest, and then go back to their old ways. Union Minister Amit Shah assured the MP of action and asked the law enforcement agencies to immediately take action.
