In the early hours of Saturday, the police were engaged in a shootout with the criminals in the Metro Vihar area of Outer North District. Three criminals were shot during the firing from both sides. The police arrested five criminals while three fled. The injured criminals have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
According to Outer North District Deputy Commissioner of Police Nidhin Valson, certain police units were patrolling the Narela Industrial Area Police Station because of the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls. The police team, while patrolling the warehouse area of Kheda Khurd village, received information about some suspicious movement by a group of people at the periphery of Kheda Khurd village. Upon reaching there, the police team noticed eight to nine people loading PVC onto a truck.
On seeing the police, the criminals began running towards the exit. During this, however, one of the criminals opened fire on the police team. The police team retaliated, firing back. Three criminals were reportedly injured by police fire. Five criminals were arrested at the scene. The police are further probing the incident by interrogating the arrested criminals.
