The New Year celebration in New Orleans, America turned into a complete disaster, as a truck suddenly crashed into people who were having fun. The attacker then opened fire on the crowd. Reportedly, the total number of fatalities from the accident has risen to 15. The US investigative agency, FBI, has come up with the information that this attack was a terrorist act. They found the ISIS flag inside the attacker’s vehicle. In retaliation, the police killed the attacker.
According to the FBI, the assailant driver met his end as he was pursuing an encounter with the police after the incident that took place on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter at around 3:15 am on Wednesday. The assailant driver was revealed much later, but he was known to be a 42-year-old called Shamsud Din Jabbar. At present, the FBI is trying to gather more information regarding Jabbar. The unfortunate incident occurred at the juncture of Bourbon Street and Iberville, a place famously known for its nightlife and lively culture.
US President Biden Condemned the attack
The president has comforted every victim and their family who were just celebrating on the occasion of the New Year. Further, he added that this violence cannot be justified within America and that all forms of violence will not be tolerated against any community in our country.
People are advised not to go closer to the scene
Reportedly, the Sugar Bowl was delayed by 24 hours after the attack during the New Year celebration. It informed that the people are instructed by the Governor of Louisiana to keep away from the French Quarter post-attack. He stated that people could not go near the French Quarter and an investigation is going on into the incident in which a truck driver took the lives of 15 people and hurt more than 35.
