On the upcoming Saturday (4th January 2025), Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Minority and Parliamentary Affairs, as per tradition, will offer the Chadar sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Dargah Sharif of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer. For a decade, PM Modi has been sending ceremonial chadar to Ajmer Sharif Dargah, every year, and this time being the 11th time.
At the same time, the Hindu Sena is against the offering of chadar by the Prime Minister at the shrine of Ajmer Sharif. They claimed that the dargah was actually Sankat Mochan Mahadev Temple. The organization’s president, Vishnu Gupta, wrote a letter to the Principal Secretary in PMO and demanded the program for the PM to offer chadar at dargah be canceled until the dargah-temple case is pending in the court.
On the annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, already started from 28 December onwards, Ajmer Sharif is expected to be filled with excitement. Last time, the saffron-coloured chadar was sent by Prime Minister Modi to the dargah. The chadar was then taken to the dargah on its behalf by BJP Minority Morcha’s Rajasthan state president Jamal Siddiqui. Before this, chadar was presented on behalf of Prime Minister Modi by ex-Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
Mr. Rijiju is expected to reach at Jaipur airport by 7:15 Am in Saturday and then travel to Ajmer by the road. The chadar offering ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah.
